Finally! A WordPress forms plugin that’s easy and powerful!
If you have ever tried building a “Contact Us” form or email newsletter subscription signup, you’ve probably experienced the frustration of creating a custom form to allow your visitors easy conversion.
I’m excited to review a brand new tool that eliminates the frustration of building custom WordPress forms.
It’s called WPForms, and it’s a drag & drop WordPress builder that allows you to easily create contact forms, subscription forms, payment forms, and other online forms with just a few clicks.
They literally took the pain out of creating online forms and made it easy.
WPForms was created by the same team behind the largest WordPress resource site, WPBeginner. They are also responsible for one of my absolute favorite lead-generation systems, OptinMonster.
They created the most beginner-friendly, drag-and-drop WordPress form plugin I have ever seen. They clearly understand the importance of easily creating beautiful online forms for your website.
Background & WordPress Form Builders Compared
Whether you want to build up your email newsletter subscribers, sell access to your paid membership site, or simply have a custom-designed contact us form, creating forms in WordPress has always been a pain.
Over the years, I’ve pieced together various tools like JetPack’s form builder, Contact Form 7, MailChimp, Gravity Forms, Fast Secure Forms, Constant Contact, HubSpot, OptinMonster, and Bloom from Elegant Themes. The problem: they all required a level of technical-knowhow that surpassed most of the business owners I was out to help. It required them to hire my staff to create and implement a seemingly simple form.
Forms are an important part of the inbound marketing process; they serve as the first point of conversion where the visitor transitions from an anonymous visitor to a known lead or prospect. Given their important role, forms need to be easy to design, build, and add to any site.
I’m happy to say, WPForms does this.

Review of WPForms
WPForms is easy to use and creates beautiful, responsive forms on your WordPress site. Responsive means the forms will adapt to the device they are displayed on. If you have ever struggled to fill out an online form and found the fields to be tiny and hard to tap, your website will not be a violator. With WPForms, those fields adapt and make it easy for your visitors and customers to fill them in.
I was excited to get the email from founder, Syed Balkhi, announcing that WPForms was ready for launch. He and the team clearly listened to the thousands of entrepreneurs and business owners who were frustrated at slow, bloated, and ugly forms on their websites.
WPForms is packed a number of features that make it an online marketer’s dream:
Drag & Drop Form Builder
You don’t need any coding or design experience to create beautiful forms on your website. Now, you can drag and drop elements in the form builder, rearrange, and even copy elements from other forms. Dead simple for any experience level.
Form Templates
To save even more time, the tool comes with pre-designed form templates for commonly used forms (like “Contact Us!” forms) so you don’t have to start from scratch each time.
Responsive & Mobile Friendly
Because all of the forms are responsive, they adapt to the device they are displayed on. This means your forms look great on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.
Smart Conditional Logic
Sometimes we need more than just a basic form. With smart conditional logic, you can program your form to display different content and fields depending on the input of the visitor.
Instant Notification
Sales and marketing, rejoice! Now you can be notified as soon as a prospect completes a form. This will set you apart from other brands who are dependent on out-dated and slow notifications through their CRM.
Entry Management
Speaking of CRMs, if you do not have a CRM to manage all of your leads, WPForms does that, too. All of your leads appear in one easy-to-manage place on your WordPress site to make your workflow flow even smoother
Multi-Page Forms
Multi-page forms, those that take a visitor to a secondary form or page after they enter their name and email address, for example, have a much higher conversion rate. You can break up long forms into several pages for improved user experience or increased conversions
File Uploads
This is common among most form builder plugins, but the ability for visitors or customers to upload a file (think of customer support or resume / application opportunities) with their form submission is helpful
Embedable Forms
Easily embed your new forms anywhere on your site. The shortcode created by the tool allows you to quickly add a form to your blog posts or pages, sidebar widgets, or footer.
WPForms Overview
WPForms Pricing
No review or comparison would complete without a pricing overview. Keep in mind, these prices are current as of the time of publishing. I’m not sure if they will change over time.
WPForms comes with four pricing levels: Basic, Plus, Pro, and Ultimate.
For almost everyone reading this, the Basic level will do just fine. The Basic plan starts at only $39 per year and includes license for one site, 1 year of updates, unlimited forms, and almost all of the features I listed above. It does not include Conditional Logic. For that, you’ll have to get at least the Pro version, which starts at $199 per year.
If you’re thinking of using this for more than a year, I recommend getting the Ultimate license for a one-time payment $349. This includes unlimited sites, lifetime updates, priority support, and advanced features like PayPal integration, MailChimp integration, Conditional Logic, User Registration, and Login Forms. For more about the ultimate level, click here.
Advanced Form Features
A small percentage of users may need advanced form features found only in the Pro and Ultimate levels.
Payments Made Easy
Both the Pro and Ultimate levels integrate easily with PayPal so you can sell subscriptions, accept donations, or offer access to parts of your site. This tool has only been available for a short time, but we are already implementing this feature into our own digital products for sale and paid online training courses. If you want to accept payments through your website, and are not ready for a full-fledged ecommerce solution, consider either Pro or Ultimate.
Marketing & Subscriptions
Like I said before, successful entrepreneurs and online marketers understand the importance of collecting subscribers. We also understand the frustration of integration between our websites and email marketing services like MailChimp. WPForms integrates seamlessly between the two; bridging the gap between beautiful signup forms and effective email marketing — all while skipping the frustration.
Summary
Why do I think WPForms is the best free WordPress form plugin on the market right now? Simply because Syed and his team know WordPress. They understand how business owners, entrepreneurs, and online marketers would rather not get bogged down by tools, but spend their time actually building the business. WP Forms does a great job of getting out of the way so that we can stay focused on getting more traffic to our websites, converting more visitors to leads, and closing more customers.
WPForms is perfect for business owners, bloggers, designers, developers, photographers, and basically everyone else. If you want to create a custom WordPress form, then you need to use WPForms.
Your Investment is Safe: WPForms offers a 14-day, 100% money-back guarantee. I’ve purchased a number of products from Syed and his team. I’ve never had to ask for my money back. Their products are top-notch and without equal. Check it out.
