Some basic principles to remember while using social media:

  1. Don’t burn your friend list – they don’t care about your business as much as you want them to.
  2. Privacy matters. It is your job to make sure your information is private.

  4. Business and personal. Never shall the two collide.
  5. Social media is a two-way street of communication.
  6. Don’t yell. Converse.
  7. Spam is evil. Never spam via social media.
  8. There are a million social media “experts” who don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.
  9. People don’t care what you know – until they know that you care.
  10. Social media should augment your existing marketing campaign; not replace or encapsulate it.
